2.0 Career Information

For your own use, prioritize a list of eight (8) career and vocational areas that became potential options while completing the "self awareness" section of this class. It is hoped that you will explore many career options while working in this new section but, for the purpose of this course please identify at least eight (8) specific careers for which you wish to gain more awareness. The careers you chose may be as diverse or similar as you wish to make them. Remember, however, that this class is for the purpose of meeting your individual needs so be open to any and all possibilities. Please place this prioritized list of career options, in your portfolio.

2.1 Career Awareness Information

2.1.1 Click here to go to the Occupational Outlook Handbook site and locate the job categories on the right side of the web page. Click on the categories that contain the occupations you have identified on your career list as possibilities. Print the entire categorical list and highlight any additional occupations of interest that may appear in the category and place in portfolio. Additionally, print at least eight (8) complete occupational descriptions, put in order of preference and place in portfolio. While at this site click on "Tomorrows Jobs" print, read, highlight any interesting insights, make notations in the margins and place in portfolio.

2.1.2 Click here to go to the "Internet System for Education and Employment Knowledge" and find at least six (6) occupational areas, print and highlight important insights and place in portfolio. If your technology allows, please view some of the informational videos. This is a very innovative site with varieties of information, especially regarding insights you have gained about yourself from the Self-Awareness Section. Please use very carefully the highlighting pens to document where you are and are not compatible with each occupation you have selected

2.1.3 Click here to go to O*NETTM OnLine is another very good career information research site. You were introduced to this site earlier when assessing your skills. This time, please sellect four (4) specific careers and get a summary of each, print, highlight according to directions and place in portfolio.

2.1.4 Click here to go to the College Board "Career Browser" locate two (2) occupations of your interest. Print results, highlight according to directions and place in portfolio. Pay special attention to the related careers section.
