A NOTE TO STUDENTS
Dear Student:
Welcome to the adventure and challenge of career planning. By using the
Self-Directed Educational Web Resources, LLC Program the adventure will
be made much easier and far more interesting. You will be able to
discover ways of determining which careers best match who you are and
how you relate to your world. You will be able to assess interactively
your interests, strengths, personality, values, and many other personal
qualities that make you unique. You will then be able to match jobs and
careers that best reinforce the discoveries you have made about
yourself. After identifying your occupational goals, you will research
the education and training necessary to enter those fields, as well as
the post high school educational institutions offering appropriate
preparation. After narrowing your goals and identifying training institutions you will be able, in most instances, to apply for admissions "online" and/or acquire the necessary admissions material. Additionally, you will be able to apply for financial aid and research vast numbers of scholarships which match your personal profile. All of this information plus much more can be launched right from this connection to the e-world. When starting this process it is best to establish a portfolio for collecting all the pertinent information you will be discovering about yourself. This portfolio will provide you with a running collection of personalized information for later review and interpretation. Follow the keyed sites and you will have a baseline of information necessary to make responsible decisions. If at all possible, avail yourself of the additional assessment tools, as time permits, for the purposes of more informed decisions. And please don't forget to take your portfolio to a professional counselor for consultation, whenever possible. Have fun and good luck!!
