Note to Parents

Dear Parent:

The anxiety parents feel while assisting their child with educational and career decisions is often immense. This anxiety is often due to not having access to all the information necessary to give informed advice or even know where that information can be found. The "Self-Directed Educational Web Resources, LLC Program" is designed to provided students and parents with access to all that information. It has been designed to be very easy to use yet provide a wealth of help and resources. By having this information available at home, you will be able to research nearly anything that may come up in the career decision-making process and save a great deal of time and energy.

The sections related to funding education, financial aid, and scholarships will be of particular interest to many parents. However, the resources that relate to personal awareness and college and educational searches will also be of great interest to discuss with your son/daughter. These interactive instruments can truly relieve the level of anxiety and assist everyone to make more informed decisions.

Please do not allow this program to supplant the professional guidance/counselor but use it to enhance what may or may not be available within the schools and community. Your son/daughter is going through a significant transition when leaving high school and needs a great deal of understanding and encouragement. A low-key, self-directed site such as this is often the perfect tool for them to use in coming to a decision about their future plans. Patience, information, and encouragement are what your children need at this point in their lives. Remember, in our society a faltering start can be overcome, but a shattered relationship might not. The average person of your child's generation will likely change careers 7-12 times in a lifetime. Therefore, we can be supportive and helpful in the journey they are on, realizing that it may well be a lifetime process. Enjoy and have fun!!!
